Advanced IPL technology proven to treat unwanted hair safely. Until now results have only been available to clients with dark hair and fair skins, but for the first time ever the ADENA SPL is effective on any hair type - very white to very black as well as for darker skin types.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
So what makes Adena different? During traditional IPL hair removal procedures, the energy from high intensity flashes of light is absorbed by the chromophore melanin, which is responsible for the hair pigment in colour. Dark hair, which is rich in melanin, readily absorbs this light and transfers it as heat into the surrounding capillaries, which supply blood to growing of hairs. When the blood vessels are destroyed in high temperatures, additional hair growth is prohibited. Adena is unique in that it does not rely on the hair pigment to absorb the light energy, meaning it can effectively target those shades not so rich in melanin. Instead, with a special treatment applicator Adena targets the blood vessels directly, preventing the growth of blonde, grey, white and red hairs.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED?
The Adena can only treat hairs in the growth phase. Approximately 20% of all hairs are in the growth phase at any one time. Certain "resting" hairs can also become active due to age and hormonal modifications. Other factors include hair colour and thickness. Everyone is different and several sessions may be needed. After that, only one or two annual maintenance sessions are recommended.
WHAT AREAS AND SKIN TYPE CAN BE TREATED?
Any areas of the face and body can be treated with pulse light. Although the Adena can treat blonde, grey and red hair, the darker the hair the richer the melanin and the better the results.
DOES IT HURT?
For most people there is virtually no pain. The feeling of the treatment is extremely variable from one person to another, it depends on the concentration of melanin in the skin and the size and density of the hair.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT?
In most cases, there is no visible effects. Therefore the treatment does not interfere with normal activities. Redness could appear on the skin indicating successful treatment. Hair is detached from its nourishment but it still remains in its sheath during the renewal of the epidermis (peeling). A light exfoliation 10 - 15 days after the session can speed up the rate at which the hair falls out.

PRE & POST TREATMENT CARE
- Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks prior to the treatment.
- Avoid spray tans prior to treatment.
- Alway use SUNSCREEN!!
- Certain medications like antibiotics can have a negative effect on treatment - always tell you operator if you are on, or have changed any medications during treatment.
- Avoid products containing Retin-A or high doses of AHA's.
- Use cool water to wash the area 24 hours after.
- Do not exfoliate the treated area for 3-4 days following treatment.
- Do not tweeze or wax the treatment area for before or after treatments.
